Answers
General – Filtration Systems
1: Is it okay to use a water softener with a PristineHydro filtration system?
A: Yes, actually water softeners will reduce build up and scaling, extending the life of your water heater, pipes, fixtures, and appliances. Using a water softener (with good potable water) will extend the life of the RO membranes of the PristineHydro filtration system.
2: I use a water distiller, and the taste of the water is flat and heavy. What does PristineHydro water taste like?
A: The distillation used by other filtration systems does not remove sulfuric and nitric acids or chlorine. PristineHydro water tastes like natural spring water, with a nice, light, refreshing mineral taste. PristineHydro’s technology restores the water’s natural mineral properties, improves the surface tension and biological availability, and improves the hydration of your body. In addition, everything you use water for will taste better with PristineHydro water.
3. What is PristineHydro Enhancing Technology?
A: This new technology is exclusive to the PristineHydro Development, Inc. It is the first of its kind to be applied to home drinking water that offers ultra-purified, sterilized, restructured AND re-mineralized magnesium bicarbonate water.
4. If I have hard water and no water softener can I still use a PristineHydro filtration system?
A: Yes. PristineHydro utilizes the highest quality RO membrane in order to provide the best (rejection) quality of water for the longest period of time. However, hard water will shorten the life of the membrane and therefore it will function just fine, but it might require replacing more often.
5. How does PristineHydro compare to buying bottled water for drinking?
A: No highly toxic plastic bottles, less trash, more environmentally friendly, no trips to the store, and no monthly billing required. Tests indicate that some bottled waters are of surprisingly poor quality, often not meeting the standards required for ordinary tap water.
6. Can I change the filters myself?
A: Yes. most people find that changing the filters themselves is simple and easy.
7. What is the pH of the water produced?
A: 9.5 to 10.0
8. Can I check the pH of the water with test strips?
A: No, the pH of water is checked with a pH Solution Kit (available for $18.00)
A: Yes, it can only be lowered, to approximately to 8.5 – 9.0 by turning the dial on the magnesium cartridge to the off position; this will reduce (not stop) the amount of magnesium injected into the water.
10. What is the TDS of the water?
A: Prior to the re-mineralization stage of our system, the TDS is 0, showing purity; after re-mineralization the TDS is 45 which evidences the magnesium injected into the water by the system.
11. Can I check the TDS of the water?
A: Yes, we offer a TDS meter for purchase ($28.00).
12. How long do the filters last?
A: It is based on usage; the first required filter change comes after approximately 1000 gallons.
13. How do I know when to change the filters?
A: The Filter / Membrane Use Indicator will blink red indicating approximately 1000 of use (1 to 1-1/2 years under normal use).
- The KDF filter and 5 Micron filters should be changed soon thereafter.
- The Dual DI filter should be changed every 2nd time (approx. 2000 Gallons)
- The RO Membrane should be changed every 4th time (approx. 4000 gallons)
- The Magnesium Cartridge should be changed every 4th time (approx. 4000 gallons)
- The Post Carbon filter should be changed every 4th change (approx. 4000 gallons)
14. Is it ok to take ElectrolyteBalance™ throughout the day?
A: Yes, you can put 2 teaspoons in 16oz. of water and drink ElectrolyteBalance™ throughout the day; especially ideal when exercising or very active.
15. I notice that the ElectrolyteBalance™ separates in the bottle.
A: We do not use stabilizers or preservatives therefore shaking the bottle every day or so will do the trick.
16. After I have reached and maintained my pH goal of 7.0 what is my next step for optimal health?
A: Start incorporating our Shilajit (84 organic minerals) and Bee products (Antidote, Bee Pollen, Propolis, Royal Jelly) for more complete nourishment in your daily diet.
17. What are the general benefits of consuming bee products?
A: Bee products are among nature’s most remarkable and versatile nutritional substances in nature. Throughout history, humankind has revered the beehive as a sustainer of youth, a source of healing and provider of nutritious foods. Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly and Propolis contain antibacterial and antioxidant qualities that may promote health in many ways, including, combating allergies, weight control and lowering cholesterol.
18. Can Antidote be incorporated in my smoothie in the morning? Or will it lose any nutritional value?
A: Antidote can be combined in a smoothie or blended with any nut milk or goat milk for a delicious drink, without affecting its nutritional value.
19. Why we do not use a “Zero Waste” reverse osmosis (“RO”) system?
A: “Zero Waste” systems can have issues: (1) They are more likely to foul with a source water that has a high total dissolved solids; (2) Shortened system life and more frequent membrane changes. The life of the PristineHydro Reverse Osmosis Membrane can last for 2 years under normal water conditions for normal family use. We also have a bypass valve on our system to flush out the RO membrane that increases the life of the membrane our significantly. Our units have a waste to recovery rate of 1-to-1 while most RO systems are at 5-to-1, which means that for every gallon made, four or five go down the drain; Further:
Recently some companies have introduced “zero waste” RO systems, which claim not to waste any water. These systems still produce brine water as a by-product of the RO process, but can labeled as “zero waste” systems because the brine water is recycled; not flushed down the drain as wastewater. “Zero Waste” RO systems come in two basic types.
(1) The more advanced systems eliminate water waste by pumping the brine water into the hot water plumbing instead of down the drain. The drawback to this design is that the brine water injected into the hot water line will be discharged from all of your hot water faucets shower, cooking, dishes, etc, and into your dishwasher; they also can take years off of the life of your water heater.
(2) The less advanced systems pump the brine water back into the cold water line feeding the RO unit. The downside to this design is that the additional concentrated brine water in the feed water will force the RO system to work harder, wearing down system components more quickly, and resulting in more frequent filter changes and overall shorter system life.
Both types of “zero waste” RO systems eliminate water waste but their downsides are significant; the bad stuff has to go somewhere!
Under-counter Filtration System
1. What are the dimensions of the Under-counter system?
A: 18’ tall x 17’ wide x 7” deep
2. Will the system fit under my counter?
A: The Under-counter system will fit under most standard (25+”) height counters.
3. Does the Under-counter system come with its own designated faucet?
A: Yes, it requires a 5/8” hole be available or made for installation.
Counter-top Filtration System
1. What are the dimensions of the Counter-top system?
A: __” tall x __’ wide x 7” deep
2. Will the system fit under my cabinets?
A: The Counter-top system will fit under most standard over-counter cabinets (18+” clearance).
3. Can I fill other containers with my Counter-top system?
A: Yes! The crock is removable, allowing you to fill any container that fits under the float/fill assembly. **Please use caution when filling other containers; you must monitor the water level carefully to prevent overflow.
4. Does the Counter-top unit produce the same quality water as the PristineHydro Under-counter unit?
A: Yes! It produces the same pure, high-alkaline, pH water.
5. Does the Counter-top unit require a certain water pressure to operate?
A: A minimum 40 lbs of water pressure is required for proper performance.
